Does endometriosis affect your immune system?

Having dealt with Edno now for 15 years I’ve noticed even the smallest of colds take me longer to get over, they also are worse than before. With my body having to constantly fight the effects of chronic pain and fatigue I wonder is it just me, bad luck, coincidence, or is my Endometriosis really affecting my health in more ways than not?

After doing some research and reading about the autoimmune disease, Immune Systems, and Endometriosis. It’s noted that yes Endometriosis is a puzzling hormonal and immune system disease in which tissue that lines the uterus the endometrium grows outside the uterus as we know from previous posts infertility can affect 30 to 40 percent of women due to having endometriosis.

So while feeling already exhausted from the constant fight my body is more prone to catching even the smallest of illnesses. It is stated that women with Endometriosis do appear to have a higher risk of developing autoimmune diseases.  Since these symptoms seem to worsen with time, early diagnoses are important.

Why does Endometriosis affect my Immune System?

In my opinion, I truly believe that it has to do with the fact that my body is never resting, it’s never given a chance to regain its strength. I had a cold right before Thanksgiving last year and I didn’t start to feel the end of it until after Christmas some time, Went to the doctor they said to continue taking Mucinex, pseudoephedrine, and Zyrtec  finally I said enough is enough and to my surprise within a few days I was feeling 50% better than I had when I was taking the medication. Do you think to take the medication made it hard for my immune system to fight off the cold it needed to? Did it make me even weaker? It’s a question I have asked my self often. I have also asked my self-did having Bacterial Meningitis at 11 days old affect my ability to fight off these common colds, allergies, or any other disease? “Meningitis is an infection that causes the protective membranes of the nervous system to swell. Inflammation of the brain and spinal cord can affect every part of your body.” ( from the Healthline on effects of meningitis to the body) After effects of having Meningitis can cause a range of problems in people that can alter their lives, some of this issue may be temporary while some maybe are permanent.

How to fight back and get your immune system working to your advantage:

Avoiding A1 Dairy: A1 dairy is a powerful inflammatory protein that causes immune problems in some. It has been shown that people with Endometriosis and have taken this dairy out of their diets have shown improvement. From my own experience, I can attest that this, in fact, has helped me and the chronic pain from Endo.

Avoiding gluten: Gluten is an immune-disrupter for some people. when your immune system is constantly creating inflammation in your body it’s not giving your immune system a chance to fight off the things it needs to, to keep you well. toxins are flooding your bloodstream causing the chronic inflammation making your immune system stressed out. I also have done this and have seen and felt a difference, not having gluten or dairy in my body I’m less bloated which is caused by the inflammation.

Tumeric!!! My 2nd love in life: I have been taking Tumeric now for about a year and have seen a huge difference in my pain, Being diagnosed with Endometriosis, PCOS, and Bursitis in my left hip I have a lot of pain. Tumeric is a bioactive compound Curcumin being the active ingredient is a powerful anti-inflammatory product, also a strong antioxidant. Since Curcumin doesn’t absorb into the bloodstream easily it’s recommended to take it with some black pepper which contains piperine, a natural substance that enhances absorption.

A few other things to consider to help keep your immune system working for you are
For most people, this list is common sense.

*Stay away from anyone who is ill or has been ill in the last week. Also reminding others around you that you have weakened immune system can help
*Avoid sharing pens, keyboards, computers public restrooms, handrails etc. wash your hands after if you must
*Get as much rest as you can this will help your body be able to fight the illness
*Avoid smoking

With all that being said I feel my immune system is SHOT
